Lance Widner, CFA, CFP
Lance is a “military to finance” transition specialist with over 20 years of experience in finance, and eight years as a Supply Corps Officer in the United States Navy Reserve. His professional experience includes both the private equity group and portfolio strategy group of Oppenheimer & Co, trust department manager at First Hawaiian Bank, Certified Financial Planner (“CFP”) Practitioner at AXA Equitable and Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch & Co. He is currently a Lieutenant and Expeditionary Logistics Officer at SEAL Team 18 in Virginia Beach, VA.
He is Co-Founder and Chair Emeritus of the Veterans Roundtable of the CFA Society New York (CFANY) from 2015-2018 as a special interest group that assists transitioning veterans who are interested in pursuing a career in finance. During his tenure as Chair he developed the Annual Veteran Transition Symposium and a transition boot for veterans transitioning into the finance industry. He holds his MBA from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain, BA in Business Administration from Drury University in Springfield, MO, and holds both his Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”) Charter and Certified Financial Planner (“CFP”) designations. He is a graduate of the Joint Professional Military Education Program at the Naval War College in Newport, RI.
