5th Annual
Security and Defense Conference
Since 9/11, the security and defense industry has continued to
outperform the market. Lehman Brothers’ index of 26 security
companies has climbed 313% since August 31, 2001, versus a 5% increase
for the S&P 500 during the same period. The SPADE Defense Index rose
22.2% in 2007 and has outperformed the S&P 500 for eight consecutive
years.
While the industry is no longer seeing these remarkable gains, many
analysts consider the group to be a stable investment. The Department of
Homeland Security’s FY 2008 budget is a record $46.4
billion—representing an increase of 8%—and the Department of
Defense has approved a budget increase of 10% for FY 2008. A further
benefit of the industry is that it is removed from the subprime loan
crisis and general economic concerns, and many believe that it will
maintain its strength through the 2008 elections.
Companies presenting at this conference provide a wide variety of
security solutions to the military, first responders, the Department of
Homeland Security, and the corporate sector. Their products and services
include:
-
Gas masks and respirators;
-
Body armor and other safety equipment;
-
Identity management technology;
-
Video surveillance equipment;
-
Communications instruments;
-
Portable battery technology; and
-
High-growth consulting services such as information technology
security and crisis management and preparedness.
Don’t miss this opportunity to meet company CEOs, CFOs, and
other VIPs as they discuss the future of their industry and their
individual strategies for managing growth and delivering shareholder
value.
