Please join us for an engaging and insightful conversation on one of the greatest political and economic thought-leaders of the twentieth century - Ayn Rand.
Based on original research conducted in Russia, detailed interviews with Ayn Rand's acquaintances and disciples, and previously unexamined audio tapes and letters, Anne Heller, in her book "Ayn Rand and the World She Made", provides the most detailed and accurate portrait of one of America's most influential thinkers of the twentieth century.
"Ayn Rand and the World She Made" traces the life of Ayn Rand from her upbringing in czarist Russia, to her arrival in Hollywood, California. The book then follows Rand's philosophical and personal development into becoming an outspoken and controversial proponent of individualism and capitalism. Over time, Rand developed a cult-like following that would include government officials and economic leaders. By the time of her death, Rand was a larger-than-life figure who's cultural importance continues to gain momentum. In a 1991 survey sponsored by the Library of Congress and the Book of the Month Club, readers named "Atlas Shrugged" the book that most influenced their lives, second only to the Bible. Later in 1998, "Atlas Shrugged" and "The Fountain Head" were voted as #1 and #2 among the 20th Century's 100 Greatest Books in a survey conducted by Modern Library.
