About the Awards

Do you know a NYSSA volunteer who has demonstrated extraordinary service and continuing devotion to the Society? Or how about an individual who has produced a body of research notable for its enduring value to finance professionals? Recognize the contributions they and others have made and nominate them for one of our five awards which are presented at NYSSA's Annual Dinner.

Volunteer of the Year Award
This award honors respected and distinguished NYSSA members/volunteers who have demonstrated extraordinary service and continuing devotion to the Society and who have shown continued dedication to achieve NYSSA’s goals especially in the past calendar year. (Up to three people may receive this award. NYSSA membership is required.)

Benjamin Graham Distinguished Service Award
This award honors unusual dedicated voluntary service to NYSSA marked by outstanding performance, demonstrated effective leadership, prolonged and committed service, devotion, and enthusiasm. Established in 2011, this award honors the contributions of Benjamin Graham, one of NYSSA’s founders and the “father of securities analysis.” This award is presented to a NYSSA member/volunteer who has served the Society for at least ten years in one or more of the following areas: Volunteer Leadership, Program Development, or Membership Growth. (NYSSA membership is required.)

Irving Kahn Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is presented to a member of the investment profession who has made distinctive contributions to the industry and whose exemplary achievement, excellence of practice, and true leadership have elevated the integrity and competence of the profession. This award was established in 2011 to honor the enduring contributions of Irving Kahn, one of NYSSA’s founders and the first recipient of the award. (NYSSA membership is not required.)

Research Award
This award recognizes an individual who has produced a body of research notable for its enduring value to finance professionals. The award is presented to a person who exemplifies outstanding leadership in promoting excellence and relevancy in research and education. (NYSSA membership is not required.)

Young Investment Professional Award
This award recognizes an outstanding early career professional who actively involves himself/herself in the profession, investment communities, and the work of NYSSA. The award is presented to a NYSSA member/volunteer who has been in the investment field for less than ten years. (NYSSA membership is required.)

NYSSA Ambassador Committee
This award recognizes the committee that has promoted NYSSA’s values to members as well as nonmembers, resulting in increased awareness of NYSSA in the financial community. The committee obtaining this award has built bridges and partnerships between various financial institutions and NYSSA. 

Most Outstanding Industry Contribution
The committee awarded this distinction has been instrumental in moving in to fill a new need in the finance profession. This need is in line with the values and mission of NYSSA. This award can also go to a committee that has recently been established and has shown growth in membership as well as creating new programs.

Most Innovative Committee of the Year 
The award is given to the committee with the most original and innovating platform for delivering content and programs.

Most Improved Committee
The committee that shown improvement over the last year in terms of members, participation, or programs will receive this award.
