Opening Remarks

Harumi Urata-Thompson, CFA, Chief Operating Officer of the New York Society of Security Analysts, was previously a Director at Thomson Reuters, managing a portfolio of innovation best practices as well as their mobile products. Thomson Reuters has six business units which consist of 55,000 employees and over $12B revenue. Prior to this position, she served as Chief of Staff to the CEO of the Healthcare and Science business. This role included overseeing all management activities of 5 sub business units including acquisitions, business and product management, and planning of $900M budget and 4,300 employees. She began her career in investment banking with Morgan Stanley and Citigroup. During these years she worked as a fixed income sales professional and M&A banker in three financial capitals. On assignment in London, she opened the Japan Desk, creating a new business line. Ms. Urata-Thompson earned her MBA from Institute Européen D’administration Des Affaires (INSEAD) in France. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Business magna cum laude from Sophia University in Japan. She is a CFA charterholder, PMP certified, and bilingual in English and Japanese.

Panelists

Poul Kristensen, CFA, CQF, is Managing Director, Chief Economist and Portfolio Manager with New York Life Investment Management's multi-asset strategic asset allocation & solutions group, which has $9.4 billion assets under management. He joined NYLIM in 2011 to focus on global macroeconomic trends and investment strategy and has 16 years of experience in the industry, specializing in quantitative investment strategy and asset allocation. Prior to joining NYLIM, he worked at Danske Bank Markets, where he specialized in tactical asset allocation and international macro and interest rate strategy. Before that, he was a senior strategist where he headed and coordinated tactical and strategic asset management. Poul holds a Master's degree in economics from Aarhus University (in Denmark), and he received his Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF) in 2011 and is a CFA Charterholder since 2004.
  
Ebrahim Rahbari is a Managing Director in the Global Economics Team of Citi Research in New York. Ebrahim works closely with Citi global Chief Economist Willem Buiter and focuses on economic events, developments and trends of global significance, including trends in monetary policy, global investment, debt and deleveraging and longer-term growth in output and trade. Ebrahim joined Citi in 2010 and prior to his current role, Ebrahim was a Director of European and Global Economics in London, where he focused on economic developments in the Eurozone, including the ECB and the European sovereign debt and banking crisis, and was Citi's lead economist for Germany (2013-15) and for Spain (in 2012). Ebrahim holds a Master's degree and PhD in Economics from London Business School and a BA (Hons) in Economics and Management from Oxford University (Balliol College).

Luca Passoni runs a consulting practice that guides clients through challenges related to asset allocation, geopolitical/market risk, and global economic/financial uncertainties. Luca served as the CIO of Generali’s €400B investment portfolio, and was responsible for over 50 portfolio managers, Quant and Fundamental research teams, and all responsibilities around ALM for this insurance giant. Prior to being CIO, he served as CEO and General Manager for Generali Asset Management, where he ran multiple operational activities. Luca was also a senior investor at Alleanza Assicurazioni, where he was first in Italy to create a complete stochastic analysis of the asset and liability balance of the whole company, knowledge he gained while studying postgraduate finance at Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. He also created and managed the first index-linked contracts for the company. Luca is a partner in gourmet food company, and enjoys competitive sailing. (Luca is also a member of NYSSA.)

Moderator

David Allen, CFA, is an Institutional Director at Schroders, where he is responsible for sales and relationships with the firm’s largest clients and prospects. He works across all product lines and asset classes to export the firm’s intellectual capital to large plan sponsors, including public funds, corporate clients, and endowments & foundations. David served clients in a similar role at AllianceBernstein, and was also a Principal at Bernstein, serving SFOs, MFOs, and other wealth management clients. Prior experience includes fixed income consulting for Bank-Owned Life Insurance clients, foreign exchange trading throughout the 1990s, and entrepreneurial pursuits. David is a CFA Charterholder, a member of NYSSA, and Chair of its Global Investment Committee. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
