2nd Annual Investment Research Challenge
The five-member team from the NYU Stern School of Business won
NYSSA’s 2nd Annual Investment Research Challenge. Their
presentation was judged the best among the four finalist teams, which
included Baruch College, CUNY, Rutgers University and Seton Hall
University. These teams advanced to the finals on the basis of their
written report scores from among a field comprised of Columbia
University, Fordham University, Pace University and St. John’s
University.
The four finalist teams presented their research on April 22, 2004,
at U.S. Trust. The NYU team was chosen as this year's winner based on
the combined scores of their written report and their presentation.

- David Tenney, Co-Director of the Americas Investment Research,
Goldman Sachs & Co.
About the Challenge
NYSSA introduced the Investment Research Challenge in the 2002-2003
academic year as a means to promote best practices in equity research
among the next generation of analysts. The Challenge is an eight-month
initiative in which top industry professionals teach business and
finance students how to research and report on a publicly traded
company.
The Challenge spans one academic year, and consists of the following
components:
I. Training in Research and Report Writing
II. Analysis of a Public Company
III. Mentoring by a Professional Research Analyst
IV. Assessment of Written Reports
V. Presentation of Research to a High-Profile Panel of
Wall Street Experts
