Committees
NYSSA committees are communities of like-minded individuals who share
professional interests and goals. Together, committee members plan
programs and social events, exchange ideas, and circulate job
opportunities. NYSSA's website provides each committee with its own
online community, including a bulletin board and other resources that
provide direct communication among members.
Why Join a Committee?
Joining a committee connects you to a community of professionals in
your field who are eager to share their time, talent, and knowledge.
Volunteering on a committee heightens your visibility as a vital
participant in your profession and contributes to your professional
development.
Other benefits include:
-
Sharing information and ideas with a network of your peers.
-
Developing professional relationships and strengthening ties in the
investment community.
-
Enhancing your leadership skills and expanding your network through
contacts with speakers and other leading professionals.
-
Building expertise within your field by contributing to the work of
the committee and participating in NYSSA’s online
communities.
What Does Committee Membership Involve?
Activities vary by committee. Each committee chooses a meeting
schedule that suits its programming slate, its overall agenda, and its
members’ availability. The responsibilities of membership on most
committees include:
-
Building relationships with related organizations on Wall
Street.
-
Developing presentations and conferences relevant to your committee
and NYSSA members.
-
Planning and attending social and networking events.
-
Sharing information and resources on a particular topic.
How Do I Join?
The new committee year begins June 1, but members may join at any
time. To ensure proper involvement, members are limited to participation
