COURSE
DESCRIPTION

A skilled, top-notch financial analyst needs to be able to efficiently perform detailed data analysis. This course will teach you advanced Excel tools that will streamline your process and allow you to conduct more in-depth analysis. You will learn more efficient ways to apply commonly-used formulas; discover often over-looked Excel formulas; analyze data using functions such as pivot tables, vlook-up, subtotals, and regression analysis; enhance your spreadsheets with drop boxes, data validation, and automate alternate row shading; learn how to build and automate simple macros; and more! You will leave the class better prepared to leverage the capabilities of Microsoft Excel for maximum efficiency and improved analysis.

Bring your laptop to class (with Microsoft Excel installed and a CD-ROM drive). PC laptops recommended.

Prerequisite: Intermediate proficiency using Excel is required. This is a technical workshop. To obtain the desired financial background, NYSSA’s “Corporate Valuation Methodologies” class is highly recommended as a precursor.

Note: To maximize the educational value of this program, it is strongly recommended that you have a basic understanding of Excel and are familiar with its functions and features. Lack of basic Excel skills will impede your ability to effectively acquire and implement the techniques and shortcuts that are presented in this program. If you have any questions, or for further information, please contact the Education Department at education@nyssa.org.
