CONFERENCE
DESCRIPTION
|
The construction materials industry has repeatedly hit record highs
over the last six years. Spending to construct homes, offices, highways,
and other building projects totaled $1.198 trillion in 2006—a 4.8%
increase over the $1.144 trillion spent in 2005, but a slowdown from the
9% year-over-year growth in 2005.
Forecasts for 2007 are mixed. Fueled primarily by spending for private
nonresidential projects, construction spending rose 0.2% in March,
offsetting a drop in federal and private residential construction. That
good news prompted projections that 2007 spending would increase by $2
billion to $1.187 trillion.
Building materials stocks continue to thrive. As of mid-April, the Dow
Jones Construction & Materials Titans 30 Index was at 237, up over
16% for the year. Higher stock prices and increasing production costs
have also fueled a rise in mergers and acquisitions in the sector.
What obstacles and opportunities will today’s growing construction
services and suppliers face in 2007 and beyond? Is there upside left in
this industry? Don’t miss this chance to hear from industry
experts and meet the senior executives of some of the sector’s
biggest and best companies.
