Bring your laptop with Microsoft Excel to class, because this course
provides a practical, hands-on approach to the quantitative and
technical aspects of financial modeling using Excel. Learn how to model
and project a top-down financial statement for valuation purposes or for
analyzing mergers and acquisitions. Each participant will be provided
with a 10k (Annual Report) and a list of advanced Excel shortcuts. You
will input publicly available information and learn various shortcuts to
construct a five-year income statement projection and discounted cash
flow analysis. Leave the classroom with a model that you can apply to
other companies immediately.
Bring your laptop to class (with Microsoft Excel installed and a
CD-ROM drive). PC laptops recommended.
Prerequisite: Intermediate proficiency using Excel
is required. This Financial Modeling class is a technical workshop. To
obtain the desired financial background, NYSSA’s “Corporate
Valuation Methodologies” class is highly recommended as a
precursor.
Note: To maximize the educational value of this
program, it is strongly recommended that you have a basic understanding
of Excel and are familiar with its functions and features. Lack of basic
Excel skills will impede your ability to effectively acquire and
implement the techniques and shortcuts that are presented in this
program. If you have any questions, or for further information, please contact the Education Department
at education@nyssa.org.
