Micro-Cap Investment: Technology Innovators Conference
Investors in micro-cap companies can either
reap huge rewards or lose big, so micro-cap investing isn’t for
everyone. But to many micro-cap investors, there is no greater
opportunity. Micro-caps have become more popular among investment
professionals in recent years because they generally perform differently
from equities overall. Since they typically have a low correlation to
the broader stock market, they can be viewed as an effective tool for
portfolio diversification.
Many now wonder if the micro-cap universe has
neared its bottom. The Russell Microcap Index was down 38% in 2008 and
has had an average decline of 14% annually for the last three years. At
the end of May, the index was up 0.66% year-to-date. The Dow Jones
Select MicroCap Index was off 33% in 2008 and was down about 4%
year-to-date at the end of April.
Those companies that offer solid fundamentals
and break-out technology solutions for their customers—from
hardware and software to equipment and devices—may offer some of
the greatest growth opportunities of all.
Is now the time to invest in micro-cap
technology companies? If so, where are the best growth opportunities?
Meet the senior executives from a select group of innovative companies
and learn what the future has in store for their businesses and
industry.
