Mining the Web for Equity Research

NYSSA is excited to invite you to an educational breakfast seminar on how ground breaking hedge funds and traditional asset managers are mining the web to generate ideas, research and validate potential investments, and significantly improve defensive portfolio monitoring.

Panelists include:

  • Penny Herscher, President and CEO of FirstRain will share strategies and technical options for using the web as a research database.
  • Keith McCullough, CEO of Research Edge LLC will describe his strategy for incorporating macro-economic data from the web into a daily research process.
  • Alex Porter, Portfolio Manager at Porter Orlin LLC will share his process for idea generation from sector-specific blogs.
  • Dr. Gregory Saxton, Research Professor at SUNY-Buffalo will share unpublished research on the impact of investing blogs on securities prices.

A brief 20-minute panel presentation will be followed by availability for audience members to ask questions and share ideas with each of these leaders in their respective fields.

NOTE: Attendance is generally limited to securities analysts to ensure an open discussion.
